**CHENNAI, February 15, 2025** – A 36-year-old lift mechanic died Thursday afternoon after a lift he was repairing at a private hospital in Potheri plummeted to the ground floor. Rajesh, from Thiruvannamalai, and his assistant, 32-year-old Prashanth from Vellore, were working on the fourth floor when a chain link snapped, causing the lift to fall. Both men sustained severe injuries.

While Rajesh succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, Prashanth is currently undergoing treatment. Police have registered a case and launched an inquiry into the incident.
