**Mumbai, India –** JioStar announced the launch of its new streaming platform, JioHotstar, Friday, merging the content libraries of Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema. The rebranded service offers a vast array of entertainment, including live sports, movies, TV shows, and originals across 10 languages. Existing Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema subscribers can seamlessly continue their service under the new JioHotstar banner.
JioHotstar boasts a diverse content catalog, featuring Disney, NBCUniversal Peacock, Warner Bros. Discovery HBO, and Paramount content, alongside Indian films and TV series, anime, and international premieres. The platform also promises unlimited live sports coverage, including cricket, tennis grand slams, and the Premier League.
Three subscription tiers are available: two ad-supported options and a premium ad-free plan. The most basic ad-supported plan starts at $5.7 annually (or $1.7 for three months) for access on one device. A second ad-supported plan, offering access on two devices, costs $10.9 annually (or $3.4 for three months). The premium ad-free plan, priced at $17.3 annually ($3.4 monthly), allows access on up to four devices across all platforms (mobile, TV, web). Note that even the premium plan retains ads during live sports events.
JioStar CEO Kiran Mani highlighted the platform’s commitment to making premium content accessible to all Indians, emphasizing the use of AI-driven recommendations and multilingual support to personalize the viewing experience. The company also launched “Sparks,” an initiative to support Indian digital creators.
