Sat Feb 15 04:44:59 UTC 2025: ## Haryana BJP Announces Candidates for Upcoming Municipal Polls

**GURUGRAM, Haryana (February 15, 2025)** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana released its list of candidates for the upcoming Municipal elections on Friday. The party has nominated nine candidates for the Mayor’s post and nineteen for the president’s post across 33 municipal bodies. Elections are scheduled for March 2nd and include by-elections for mayoral posts in Ambala and Sonipat, as well as several other municipal council and committee positions.

Notable candidates include Rajiv Jain, husband of former Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain, who is contesting the Sonipat mayoral by-election. Rajrani Malhotra, a Mahila Morch executive member, will contest for the Gurugram Mayor’s post (reserved for an OBC-A woman), while Suman Bahmani, a State Scheduled Caste Morcha executive member, will contest in Yamuna Nagar (reserved for a Scheduled Caste woman). Praveen Joshi, chairman of the Haryana Child Welfare Board, is the BJP’s candidate for Faridabad Mayor, and Ramavatar Valmiki, national vice-president of the SC Morcha, will contest in Rohtak, a seat expected to be fiercely contested by the Congress.

The Congress party has also announced its intention to contest the elections for municipal corporations and president positions in municipal councils and committees. However, neither the BJP nor the Congress will contest the elections for municipal committee wards.
