Fri Feb 14 23:35:00 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad to Create Comprehensive City Asset Database Using Drone and Ground Surveys

**Hyderabad, February 15, 2025** – The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is undertaking a massive initiative to create a comprehensive database of all its assets across the city. This project involves a combination of drone surveys and ground-level verification.

The initiative aims to map and geo-tag various assets, including parks, open spaces, toilets, function halls, municipal markets, community halls, and the crucial stormwater drain network. A pilot program focusing on the stormwater drain network will begin in five wards before expanding city-wide. Assistant Engineers will use a mobile app to record details of the drains. A Differential GPS survey will also be used to map parks and open spaces.

The GHMC has already completed a drone survey of city properties, and ground truthing of the data is underway. This survey is expected to increase the number of properties in the GHMC database by at least 30%, providing a much-needed boost to the corporation’s finances. Ground verification of the seven lakh properties surveyed so far is also in progress, with quality checks ensuring data accuracy.

Separately, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed authorities to conduct a drone survey of areas within the Outer Ring Road designated as the Telangana Core Urban Region.
