**Brentwood, NY – February 14, 2025** – Gene Groove Allen, a renowned MC, actor, and entrepreneur, passed away Friday at the age of 60. Allen, a Brentwood, Long Island native, rose to prominence as a member of the hip-hop group Groove B. Chill, featured on Uptown Records’ influential 1986 compilation *Kickin’ It*, produced by the late Andre Harrell.
He achieved further recognition for his memorable role as the boisterous, beer-guzzling partygoer in the popular 1990s films *House Party* and *House Party 2*, as well as a role in the 1992 comedy *Boomerang*. Groove B. Chill, also comprising DJ Belal Miller and actor Daryl Chill Mitchell, released their debut album *Starting From Zero* on A&M Records in 1990.
In recent years, Allen transitioned to a successful voice-over and podcasting career and maintained a strong online presence. His contributions to hip-hop and entertainment will be remembered fondly. Rest in Power, Groove.
