**New Delhi, [Date of Publication]** – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 and 12 board exams commenced today, marking the beginning of a crucial period for over 42 lakh students across India and 26 other countries. Class 10 students sat for English (Communicative) and English (Language and Literature) papers, while Class 12 students tackled the Entrepreneurship paper. Exams began at 10:30 am and concluded at 1:30 pm.

Admit cards were previously distributed via school logins on the Pariksha Sangam Portal. The CBSE has released comprehensive guidelines for students regarding acceptable attire, permitted items, and prohibited items within examination halls, emphasizing strict adherence to rules against unfair means. Penalties for cheating will be enforced.

Students were reminded to carefully review all instructions on the question papers and answer booklets. Regular students need their admit card and school ID, while private candidates must present their admit card and a government-issued photo ID.

Permitted items include transparent stationery pouches, blue/royal blue pens, scales, writing pads, erasers, analogue watches, and transparent water bottles. Students may also bring metro cards, bus passes, and cash.

However, the CBSE strictly prohibits electronic devices such as mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and smartwatches; printed or handwritten materials; calculators (except for those with Dyscalculia); and personal belongings like wallets and handbags. Food is also prohibited, except for students with diabetes.

Regular students are expected to wear their school uniforms, while private candidates are advised to wear light clothing. The exams are being held at 7,842 centres nationwide.
