**NEW DELHI** – Over 4.2 million students from 8,000 schools across India and 26 international locations sat for the first day of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 and 12 board exams today. The exams, held at 7,842 centers, began at 10:30 am and concluded at 1:30 pm.
Class 10 students tackled English (Communicative) and English (Language and Literature) papers, while Class 12 students took the Entrepreneurship exam. Strict security measures were in place, prohibiting mobile phones and other electronic devices.
Students expressed a mix of preparedness and nerves, with one Hyderabad student stating they felt confident after diligent preparation. Parents echoed this sentiment, highlighting their children’s hard work and offering support. Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary urged students to remain stress-free and encouraged parental support, echoing Prime Minister Modi’s sentiments. Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi also offered her well-wishes via social media.
To ease travel burdens, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) implemented special measures to expedite frisking and ticketing for students utilizing the metro system during the exam period.
The CBSE board provided guidelines covering dress codes, permitted and prohibited items, and penalties for unfair means. Students were advised to carefully read instructions before beginning the exam.
