Fri Feb 14 20:16:02 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Caretaker CM Accuses BJP of Using “Financial Crisis” as Excuse to Avoid Poll Promises
**New Delhi, February 15, 2025** – Delhi’s caretaker Chief Minister, Atishi, launched a fresh attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday, accusing them of planning to blame a fabricated “financial crisis” for failing to deliver on election promises, specifically a ₹2,500 monthly dole for women. Ms. Atishi, the only AAP leader to retain her seat in the recent Delhi elections, claimed the BJP intends to use this as a cover for corruption and broken promises.
She countered BJP claims by highlighting the economic growth under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, stating that Delhi’s economy grew more than two and a half times under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, from ₹31,000 crore in 2015 to ₹77,000 crore in 2024.
Ms. Atishi also reiterated her earlier accusation blaming the BJP for recent power outages in the capital and alleged infighting within the BJP over ministerial positions.
The BJP dismissed Ms. Atishi’s accusations, with Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accusing the AAP of “looting Delhi for 10 years.” He cited 14 CAG reports detailing alleged corruption, promising to table them in the assembly. Mr. Sachdeva also wrote to the Lieutenant-Governor, condemning Ms. Atishi for issuing what he termed “misleading statements” while serving as caretaker CM. The BJP is currently finalizing its Chief Ministerial candidate.
