Fri Feb 14 15:27:04 UTC 2025: ## Adani Power to Fully Restore Electricity Supply to Bangladesh
**New Delhi, February 14, 2025** – Adani Power will fully restore electricity supply to Bangladesh from its 1,600 MW Indian power plant within days, ending a three-month disruption, sources have confirmed to Reuters. The company had halved supply in October due to payment delays stemming from Bangladesh’s foreign exchange crisis. While Adani Power has agreed to resume full operations, it has rejected Bangladesh’s requests for discounts and tax benefits, potentially worth millions of dollars.
The decision follows a virtual meeting between Adani Power and the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). While BPDB Chairman Md. Rezaul Karim indicated full power supply resumption and an increased payment plan exceeding $85 million monthly, Adani Power remains firm in its stance on the pricing dispute and existing power purchase agreement. One source close to the situation stated that Adani Power was unwilling to concede even small amounts.
The disagreement centers around the calculation of power tariffs, with differing figures cited for outstanding payments. In December, Adani Power claimed BPDB owed approximately $900 million, while BPDB countered with a figure closer to $650 million. Bangladesh had also requested the reinstatement of a discount program and tax benefits. Adani Power, however, has maintained that power supply is contingent on the purchaser’s requirements. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
