Sat Feb 15 14:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Hulu Cancels “A Court of Thorns and Roses” Adaptation

**LOS ANGELES** – Hulu has officially scrapped its adaptation of Sarah J. Maas’s popular fantasy romance novel series, “A Court of Thorns and Roses” (ACOTAR). The project, produced by Disney’s 20th Television, had been in development since March 2021, with Maas herself collaborating on the scripts alongside “Outlander” creator Ronald D. Moore.

While few updates were released publicly, the writers’ and actors’ strikes further stalled production. In February, reports surfaced that the show was no longer in development at Hulu and wasn’t being shopped to other platforms. Sources indicated that while technically still held by 20th Television until late summer 2025, the project was inactive.

Maas is reportedly planning to take the adaptation rights elsewhere once Disney’s option expires. Neither 20th Television, Hulu, nor Maas’ representatives have issued official statements.

The ACOTAR book series, which began with the 2015 publication of the first novel, follows huntress Feyre Archeron’s journey into the magical realm of Prythian after a fateful encounter with a faerie. The series’ success spawned four sequels and a planned sixth installment. Despite the cancellation of this particular adaptation, the enduring popularity of the books suggests that future attempts to bring ACOTAR to the screen may be forthcoming.
