**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, February 15, 2025** – Ten pilgrims from Chhattisgarh perished in a head-on collision between a Bolero car and a bus on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway late Friday night. The accident occurred in the Meja police station area.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Chandra Yadav, the victims, all residents of Korba district in Chhattisgarh, were traveling to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela. Those on the bus sustained only minor injuries.
President Droupadi Murmu and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. The Chief Minister’s office also stated that the injured are receiving treatment and that the district administration is providing necessary support. Investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.
