Wed Feb 12 21:50:13 UTC 2025: ## Heated On-Field Clash Mars Pakistan-South Africa ODI Tri-Series Final

**Karachi, Pakistan** – A heated altercation between Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi and South Africa batsman Matthew Breetzke marred the final match of the ODI tri-series in Karachi on Wednesday. The incident, which occurred twice during a single over, saw the players exchange words and nearly come to blows, requiring the umpire to intervene on both occasions.

The first confrontation arose during the 28th over, with Afridi seemingly angered by Breetzke’s running between the wickets. Teammates and the umpire diffused the situation. However, a second clash erupted after the final ball of the over. Replays showed Breetzke inadvertently colliding with Afridi while completing a single, sparking a furious reaction from the Pakistani bowler. Pakistan’s Khushdil Shah intervened, separating the players before the umpire could again restore order.

The on-field incident comes amidst criticism of Pakistan’s pace attack. Former captain Rashid Latif recently voiced concerns about the form of both Afridi and Naseem Shah, highlighting their lackluster performances leading up to the Champions Trophy. Afridi’s recent statistics, including a 3 for 88 performance against New Zealand last week and a total of 19 wickets in eight innings since 2024, seem to support Latif’s concerns. Naseem Shah, meanwhile, remains wicketless in two appearances this year. The clash adds another layer of concern to Pakistan’s preparations for upcoming tournaments.
