Thu Feb 13 04:38:54 UTC 2025: ## Rupee Gains 14 Paise Against Dollar on Easing US Currency, Lower Oil Prices

**Mumbai, February 13, 2025:** The Indian rupee strengthened by 14 paise against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, reaching 86.81. This surge follows a decline in the US dollar index and global crude oil prices.

The rupee’s recovery comes after days of pressure due to continuous foreign fund outflows. However, improved domestic equity markets, buoyed by better-than-expected inflation data released on Wednesday, provided support. Wednesday saw the rupee close 16 paise lower at 86.95 against the dollar, following a significant 66 paise appreciation on Tuesday.

The US dollar index fell by 0.22% to 107.59, weakening after inflation data dampened expectations of immediate monetary easing by the Federal Reserve. Brent crude also experienced a 1% drop, trading at $74.43 per barrel.

Despite foreign institutional investors offloading ₹4,969.30 crore worth of equities on Wednesday, the domestic equity market showed positive signs. The BSE Sensex rose 0.22%, and the Nifty gained 0.20%.
