Thu Feb 13 04:55:28 UTC 2025: ## Buttler Defends England’s Training Regime After Shastri Criticism
**Ahmedabad, India** – England captain Jos Buttler has defended his team’s training schedule following criticism from former India coach Ravi Shastri, who claimed the visitors lacked sufficient preparation during their recent tour. England suffered a 0-3 whitewash in the ODI series and a 1-4 loss in the T20I series.
Shastri, commentating during the third ODI, stated that England had minimal training sessions. Buttler refuted this claim, acknowledging some missed sessions due to travel but insisting that sufficient training occurred overall. He emphasized that the team’s relaxed atmosphere shouldn’t be mistaken for a lack of effort or commitment.
While England did hold training sessions before some matches, they notably skipped sessions before several T20Is and ODIs. Buttler admitted that the team failed to capitalize on opportunities during the matches and fell short of their potential against a strong Indian side.
The captain also addressed the injury to opener Ben Duckett, who suffered a groin injury in the third ODI. Duckett’s fitness will be assessed, with hopes he’ll be ready for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Despite the losses, Buttler expressed confidence that England can improve and become a formidable force in the Champions Trophy, viewing the tour as a learning experience. He acknowledged India’s current dominance in ODI cricket but believes England are capable of significantly better performance.
