Thu Feb 13 05:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Avowed to Hit 60fps on Xbox Series X, But Expect Some “Jank,” Says Director

**Redmond, WA – February 6, 2025** – Obsidian Entertainment’s highly anticipated RPG, *Avowed*, will be capable of running at up to 60 frames per second (fps) on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel. This marks a significant upgrade from previous statements indicating a 30fps cap.

Speaking on the MinnMax podcast, Patel confirmed the higher frame rate option, though she noted that this might come at the cost of graphical fidelity. The possibility of multiple graphics modes – one prioritizing frame rate, the other visual quality – remains open.

The increased performance comes after Obsidian prioritized visual effects earlier in development, a decision that initially limited the game to 30fps. Patel also cautioned players to expect some technical imperfections. “You gotta accept a little jank to do something fun and creative,” she stated.

Originally slated for a late 2024 release, *Avowed* has been pushed back to February 18th, 2025. The $90 Premium Edition offers early access, unlocking on February 13th. As with other Microsoft first-party titles, *Avowed* will be available on Game Pass Ultimate at launch, with a $22.50 upgrade for Premium Edition perks.

This marks Obsidian’s first new release since *Pentiment* (2022), and comes while the studio concurrently develops *The Outer Worlds 2*, expected later this year.
