Wed Feb 12 22:15:00 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Reviews Budget Ahead of Assembly Session
**Vijayawada, February 13, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting on Wednesday to review the state’s 2025-26 annual budget, which is scheduled to be presented in the State Assembly on February 28th. The meeting, attended by Finance Minister P. Keshav and other senior officials, focused on allocating funds for the newly announced “Super Six” welfare schemes, including “Talli Ki Vandanam” (Respect to Mothers), “Annadata Sukhibhava” (Prosperity for Farmers), and free bus travel for women.
Balancing these welfare initiatives with crucial development programs presents a significant challenge, particularly given the state’s current financial constraints. Mr. Naidu highlighted the adverse financial situation inherited from the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, citing policies like free sand distribution as contributing factors to revenue loss. He also noted that the previous administration exhausted future revenues and neglected capital expenditure.
Despite these challenges, the government has committed to continuing welfare measures while simultaneously pursuing development projects. Support from the Central government has eased some pressures on projects such as Polavaram and Amaravati. The Chief Minister has also requested special assistance from the 16th Finance Commission to address the state’s financial difficulties. This full-fledged budget will be the first since the coalition government came to power, following a five-month interim budget of ₹2.94 lakh crore presented in November 2024. The government’s commitment to its ambitious welfare agenda, even amidst financial challenges, will be a key focus of the upcoming budget session.
