Wed Feb 12 18:54:45 UTC 2025: ## Maharashtra Police Investigate Roast Show “India’s Got Latent” Following Outrage Over Vulgar Remarks
**Mumbai, India** – The Maharashtra cyber cell is conducting a thorough investigation into the YouTube roast show “India’s Got Latent” following a public outcry over vulgar remarks made by podcast personality Ranveer Allahbadia. The probe will examine all 12 episodes of the show hosted by Samay Raina, scrutinizing the content for other instances of objectionable language used by both participants and jury members. Those found to have made such remarks face potential legal action.
The investigation was triggered by a viral video clip showing Allahbadia posing a sexually explicit question to a contestant. This sparked widespread condemnation on social media, with many criticizing the normalization of vulgarity in comedy and expressing concern for its impact on young viewers.
The probe extends to interviewing audience members and identifying participants who made offensive comments. The cyber cell is also working with YouTube to remove episodes containing objectionable material. Several police complaints have already been filed against Allahbadia, Raina, YouTuber Apoorva Mukhija, and others associated with the show. The matter has even reached the Indian Parliament, with Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske calling for stricter censorship of online content.
The show, which features celebrities like Rakhi Sawant, Bharti Singh, Uorfi Javed, and Raghu Ram as guests, uses a unique judging system where contestants self-rate their performances. While inspired by the “Got Talent” franchise, “India’s Got Latent” has veered into controversy due to its explicit content. The investigation aims to determine the extent of this objectionable material and hold those responsible accountable.
