Wed Feb 12 13:49:37 UTC 2025: ## INDIA Bloc Facing Fresh Rift After Pawar Awards Shinde, Angering Shiv Sena

**New Delhi, India** – The INDIA opposition alliance is grappling with a new internal conflict sparked by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar’s decision to bestow an award upon Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. This move has ignited a furious backlash from the Shiv Sena, a key member of the INDIA bloc.

Pawar presented Shinde with the Mahadji Shinde Rashtra Gaurav Puraskar at a function in Delhi. Shinde, who orchestrated a rebellion that led to the collapse of the previous Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray, thanked Pawar for the award, highlighting their amicable relationship.

This action has infuriated the Shiv Sena, with senior leader Sanjay Raut condemning Pawar’s decision. Raut questioned how a leader who betrayed the Shiv Sena could be honored, describing the event as a “political gathering of brokers” and suggesting the award was “bought or sold.”

The BJP’s Shaina NC responded by criticizing Raut, implying his anger stemmed from his own lack of recognition.

Pawar’s unpredictable political maneuvers have frequently generated headlines. This incident follows his recent praise for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) after the INDIA bloc’s setbacks in recent state elections. The latest controversy threatens to further destabilize the already fragile INDIA alliance, which is reeling from the recent electoral defeats.
