Mon Feb 10 07:56:41 UTC 2025: ## Rohit Sharma’s Century Powers India to Victory in Second ODI
**Cuttack, India:** India clinched a thrilling six-wicket victory over England in the second One Day International (ODI) in Cuttack today. Chasing a challenging 304, India reached the target with 33 balls to spare, thanks to a magnificent century by captain Rohit Sharma.
Sharma’s 119-run knock, studded with 12 fours and 7 sixes, was his 32nd ODI century and a record-breaking 49th international century. This achievement surpasses Rahul Dravid’s tally of 48 international centuries, placing Sharma second only to Sachin Tendulkar (100 centuries) on the all-time list. His six-hitting prowess also saw him overtake Chris Gayle to claim second place in the list of most ODI sixes. Only Shahid Afridi (351) has hit more sixes in ODIs than Sharma’s 338.
Sharma narrowly missed reaching the 11,000-run milestone in ODIs, finishing just 13 runs short. He currently stands at 10,987 runs in 259 innings. He has the opportunity to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the fastest to reach 11,000 ODI runs in the next match. Virat Kohli currently holds that record.
This was also Rohit Sharma’s 50th ODI as captain for India, with 36 victories under his belt. This places him and Vivian Richards jointly fifth on the list of most ODI wins as captain.
England’s total of 304 proved insufficient against India’s powerful batting display, led by their captain’s remarkable performance. The series now moves to the next match.
