**Imphal, Manipur – February 10, 2025** – In a sudden turn of events, the 7th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly has been declared null and void, and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has resigned.
The decision to nullify the session, scheduled to begin today, was announced Sunday by Assembly secretary K. Meghajit Singh, citing a directive from Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. The Governor’s order, issued under Article 174(1) of the Indian Constitution, declared the previously issued summons for the session void with immediate effect.
Mr. Singh’s resignation followed a meeting in New Delhi with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday. After returning to Imphal, he tendered his resignation to the Governor, who accepted it.
