**Bengaluru, February 9, 2025** – The Whitefield Division Cyber Crime police in Bengaluru have registered a case against unidentified individuals for defrauding loan applicants using the name of SmartCoin Financials Pvt Ltd. The accused allegedly created fake email addresses mimicking the company’s name and sent mass emails offering instant loans. Victims were then tricked into paying processing fees and insurance amounts, with the company only discovering the scam when numerous complaints arose from individuals who had lost money. The police are investigating the fraudulent transactions to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, charging them under various sections of the IT Act, 2000, as well as for cheating and impersonation.
