Sun Feb 09 18:31:53 UTC 2025: ## BRS Demands Telangana Re-do Caste Census, Accuses Congress of Deceit

**Hyderabad, February 10, 2025** – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is demanding a re-conduct of the recently completed caste census in Telangana, alleging that the Congress government deliberately underreported the Backward Classes (BC) population. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao accused the government of rushing the census and deceiving the BC community, claiming a 5.5% reduction (approximately 22 lakh) compared to the 2014 Samagra Kutumba Survey conducted under the BRS government.

Rao, speaking after a meeting with BRS BC leaders on Sunday, demanded an apology from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He stated that the BRS will continue its fight for justice for the BC community, highlighting concerns that the underreporting will negatively impact BC representation in government schemes, including the six guarantees, welfare programs, and housing initiatives.

Rao further criticized the Congress government for failing to deliver on its pre-election promise of 42% reservation for BCs in education, employment, and local bodies, as stated in its Kamareddy BC Declaration. He also pointed to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s unfulfilled promise of a ₹1 lakh crore budget and a BC Sub-Plan during the Telangana Assembly election campaign. The BRS alleges that instead of acknowledging errors, the Congress government is attempting to discredit the data from the 2014 survey.
