**NEW YORK, NY** – A woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly assaulting a Jewish man and unleashing a torrent of antisemitic abuse in the lobby of a Manhattan office building. The incident, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, has sparked outrage and renewed concerns about rising antisemitism in the city.
According to witness Seth Bell, a lawyer, the woman, identified by police as Noora Bandoora but by other sources as Noora Shalash, initially approached the victim and made aggressive advances before launching into a tirade of hateful language. Bell, who intervened, reported hearing the woman use phrases like “genocide,” “Israel,” and “Palestine,” while linking the victim to events in the Middle East.
The video shows the woman shouting phrases such as, “F— the Jews,” “I demand Jihad!” and “I want ISIS to kill all of you!” She also claimed to be conspiring with Hamas, Palestinian Jihad, and ISIS. When confronted by Bell, she became physically aggressive, attempting to strike and kick him.
Bell stated that the woman, who allegedly works as a director of government affairs for a state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), told police a different name.
Building security contacted the NYPD, and the woman was taken into custody and transported to Bellevue Hospital for a psychological evaluation. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident and consulting with Manhattan prosecutors on potential charges. The incident highlights the ongoing struggle against hate crimes and the need for increased vigilance and protection for vulnerable communities.
