Sun Feb 09 08:10:11 UTC 2025: ## AAP’s Maliwal Condemns Atishi’s Victory Celebration After BJP Landslide in Delhi Elections
**NEW DELHI** – Amidst a resounding BJP victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, former AAP associate and Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal sharply criticized Atishi’s celebratory dance following her win in the Kalkaji constituency. Maliwal took to X (formerly Twitter) to denounce what she called a “shameless display,” highlighting the AAP’s significant loss and the defeat of several key party leaders, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Atishi, who secured a second consecutive term, defeated BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri by a narrow margin of 3,521 votes. However, the AAP’s overall performance plummeted, dropping from 62 seats to 22 in the 70-member assembly, while the BJP secured 48 seats. The Congress party failed to win any seats for the third consecutive election.
Maliwal, a prominent critic of the AAP in recent times, attributed the party’s defeat to Kejriwal’s alleged arrogance and lack of internal democracy. In an interview with NDTV, she claimed Kejriwal’s leadership style alienated party members and ultimately led to the electoral setback. She further alleged that Kejriwal’s administration is characterized by a disregard for internal democracy and a tolerance for violence, referencing a previous incident where she accused a close Kejriwal aide of assaulting her at the Chief Minister’s residence. The BJP’s victory marks the end of their nearly three-decade wait to lead the national capital.
