Sun Feb 09 10:15:59 UTC 2025: ## Delhi BJP’s Landslide Victory Overshadows Atishi’s Win; Maliwal Condemns Celebrations

**NEW DELHI** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 47 seats and ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) seven-year rule. While AAP’s Atishi secured a victory in the Kalkaji constituency, her celebrations were met with sharp criticism from fellow party member, Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal.

Maliwal took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn Atishi’s jubilant display following AAP’s overall defeat, describing it as “shameless.” Atishi defeated BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri by a margin of 3,521 votes. The AAP’s loss included high-profile defeats for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. In contrast, BJP’s Parvesh Verma secured a significant victory over Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat.

Maliwal’s criticism came alongside a broader attack on AAP, linking the party’s defeat to divine retribution for alleged crimes against women, referencing a previous assault case involving Kejriwal’s aide. Despite her harsh words, Maliwal remains within the AAP.

The BJP’s resounding victory marks a significant political shift, ending 27 years out of power in the national capital. The Congress party once again failed to secure any seats.
