Sun Feb 09 07:37:21 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Minister Addresses Concerns Over Backward Classes Survey

**Hyderabad, February 9, 2025** – Telangana’s Backward Classes Welfare Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, met with leaders of Backward Classes (BC) organizations to address concerns regarding the recently completed Telangana Socio, Caste, Economic, Employment and Political Survey. The meeting, attended by prominent BC leaders and Congress representatives, aimed to dispel what the Minister termed a “misleading campaign” by opposition parties, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Concerns were raised about potential inaccuracies in the survey data, particularly regarding a reported decrease in the BC population. Minister Prabhakar explained that the Planning Department conducted the survey due to the BC Commission’s limited infrastructure. He highlighted the survey’s significance, stating that Telangana is the only state in India to undertake such a comprehensive profiling of its BC population.

Participants suggested a special drive to collect data from families who did not participate, noting lower participation in urban areas like Greater Hyderabad. Former BC Commission Chairman, Vakulabharanam Krishnamohan Rao, expressed confidence that the government would address the identified lapses, praising the Minister’s efforts to engage with BC leaders.

Minister Prabhakar assured the leaders that their suggestions would be conveyed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for consideration. He emphasized the government’s commitment to social justice and the historical importance of the survey, crediting its completion to the guidance of Rahul Gandhi.
