**NEW DELHI** – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened registration for the NEET UG 2025 medical entrance exam on its official website, neet.nta.nic.in. This year’s exam features several key changes aimed at improving fairness and efficiency, addressing issues from the previous year.
The most significant change is the elimination of optional questions in Section B. The 2025 exam will consist of 180 compulsory questions (45 each in Physics and Chemistry, and 90 in Biology), reverting to the pre-COVID format. The additional time previously granted has also been removed.
Another notable change affects tie-breaking procedures. Application number and age will no longer be considered. Instead, tie-breakers will prioritize candidates with fewer incorrect answers, starting with Biology, then Chemistry, and finally Physics. Applicants are required to choose at least three exam center options within their state of residence.
The NTA has also implemented a new process for resolving disputes. An expert committee will randomly resolve cases if standard methods fail.
Exam centers will open three hours prior to the 2 pm to 5 pm exam, with entry closing at 1:30 pm. Applicants must upload a recent passport-sized photograph taken after January 1, 2025.
NEET UG 2025 scores will determine admissions to various undergraduate medical programs, including MBBS, BDS, BVSc & AH, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BHMS courses, as well as BSc Nursing at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals. The information bulletin, syllabus, and exam pattern are available on the NTA website.
