Sun Feb 09 11:29:59 UTC 2025: ## BJP Wins Ayodhya Bypoll in Landslide Victory

**Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh –** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a resounding victory in the Milkipur assembly bypoll, winning by a record-breaking margin. BJP candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan defeated Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Ajit Prasad by 61,710 votes, garnering 1,46,397 votes to Prasad’s 84,687. This victory shatters the previous record for the highest victory margin in Milkipur, set in 2012.

The bypoll, held on February 5th, saw a high voter turnout exceeding 65% of eligible voters. The election was closely watched as a significant test for both parties following the SP’s unexpected victory in the Faizabad Lok Sabha elections last year, a constituency that includes Milkipur. The BJP viewed this bypoll as an opportunity to regain ground after that loss.

Throughout the counting process, Paswan maintained a commanding lead, significantly widening his advantage with each round. BJP leaders celebrated the win as a demonstration of public support and a rejection of the SP’s claims of election rigging. SP leader Akhilesh Yadav had earlier accused the government of manipulating the election, allegations which were denied by the BJP.

BJP MP Dinesh Sharma hailed the results as a symbol of the SP’s declining popularity, while Paswan expressed gratitude to the voters for their support. The massive victory for the BJP in this strategically important constituency in Ayodhya, a city of significant religious importance, marks a significant win for the party.
