**NEW DELHI** – The recent Delhi Assembly elections produced a diverse range of winners, highlighting significant discrepancies in age, wealth, and legal history. BJP’s Karnail Singh emerged as the richest winning candidate, declaring assets worth Rs 259 crore, followed by fellow BJP members Manjinder Singh Sirsa (Rs 248 crore) and Parvesh Sahib Singh (Rs 115 crore). In contrast, the youngest winner was 31-year-old BJP candidate Umang Bajaj, while the oldest was 73-year-old Tilak Ram Gupta, also from the BJP.
The elections also revealed a concerning number of winning candidates with pending criminal cases. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Amanatullah Khan leads with 19 cases against him. Other AAP winners with criminal cases include Kuldeep Kumar (7 cases), Jarnail Singh (4 cases), and Sanjeev Jha (2 cases). From the BJP, Manjinder Singh Sirsa has 5 cases and Parvesh Verma has 1.
Parvesh Verma’s victory is notable, as he defeated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency by a margin of 4,089 votes. Other notable winning margins include Manjinder Singh Sirsa (18,190 votes), Tilak Ram Gupta (15,896 votes), Umang Bajaj (1,231 votes), Amanatullah Khan (23,639 votes), Jarnail Singh (11,656 votes), and Sanjeev Jha (20,601 votes).
