Sun Feb 09 07:36:19 UTC 2025: ## BJP Sweeps Delhi Elections, Modi Vows Yamuna Clean-Up and City Revitalization

**New Delhi, February 8, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged a comprehensive revitalization of Delhi following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections. The BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 12-year rule.

Addressing BJP workers, Modi highlighted the Yamuna River’s cleanup as a top priority, stating his commitment to making it “the identity of Delhi city.” He criticized the outgoing AAP government for its alleged failure to address the river’s pollution and other pressing civic issues, including dilapidated roads, overflowing sewers, and pervasive air pollution.

Modi’s victory speech emphasized a multi-pronged approach to transforming Delhi. This includes tackling pollution, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the city’s overall cleanliness. He contrasted the BJP’s vision of urbanization as an opportunity for empowerment with the AAP’s perceived failure to utilize it effectively.

The prime minister also emphasized the potential for unprecedented progress in the National Capital Region (NCR) given that BJP governments now control Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. He outlined plans for significant improvements to mobility and infrastructure throughout the region. Modi’s address also acknowledged the support of Delhi’s middle class and slum dwellers, highlighting the BJP’s commitment to their well-being. He cited past successes in expanding metro networks and developing urban infrastructure as evidence of the party’s commitment to improving citizens’ lives.
