**CUPERTINO, CA –** Apple has released iOS 18.3, addressing several bugs and enhancing its AI features. The update, released on January 27th, comes a month after iOS 18.2 and prioritizes security improvements across all iPhone models. While iOS 18.2 introduced Apple Intelligence features like Genmoji and Image Playground (limited to iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models), iOS 18.3 focuses on refinement and bug fixes.
Key improvements include updates to Visual Intelligence, now capable of adding events to calendars from images and enhancing its plant and animal identification capabilities. However, the update also addresses issues with AI notification summaries, temporarily disabling the feature for News & Entertainment apps due to accuracy concerns. A disclaimer now appears, highlighting the potential for errors. Users can still opt back into summaries later. The summaries themselves are now italicized on the Lock Screen for improved clarity.
In a positive development, the Calculator app’s ability to repeat operations by pressing the equals sign, a feature removed in iOS 18, has been restored. Additionally, six new Black Unity wallpapers celebrating Black History Month are included, inspired by the rhythm of humanity and featuring the colors of the Pan-African flag.
The update is available via Settings > General > Software Update. While Apple Intelligence features remain exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 16 users for now, the security and other improvements are available for all iPhones. Full release notes and security details can be found on Apple’s support website.
