Sun Feb 09 10:39:33 UTC 2025: ## BJP Wins Delhi Assembly Polls, but AAP Puts Up Strong Fight

**New Delhi, February 9, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats. However, the narrow margins in several constituencies highlight a surprisingly strong challenge from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which won 22 seats.

While the BJP secured a 45.56% vote share compared to AAP’s 43.57%, several races were exceptionally close. Former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia (AAP) lost to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah in Jangpura by a mere 675 votes. Other close contests included Malviya Nagar, Mehrauli, Sangam Vihar, and Rajinder Nagar, with winning margins ranging from 344 to 2,131 votes.

In contrast, BJP candidates in constituencies like Rohini (37,816 vote margin), Bawana (31,475), Najafgarh (29,009), and Nangloi Jat (26,251) secured significantly larger victories. AAP also secured substantial wins in several constituencies, including Matia Mahal, Ballimaran, Deoli, and Seelampur, with margins exceeding 29,000 votes. Deoli, a seat allocated to an ally, saw the BJP candidate win by a comfortable margin.

Despite the BJP’s overall win, the tight contests underscore AAP’s continued influence and ability to compete effectively against the ruling party in Delhi. Both Sisodia and AAP’s Durgesh Pathak (who lost in Rajinder Nagar) issued statements thanking their supporters and reflecting on their time in office.
