**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – February 9, 2025** – Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Chinta Mohan has called for a commission of inquiry into alleged land encroachments in the Kolleru Lake region of Andhra Pradesh. In a press conference in Eluru on Saturday, Mohan urged the state government to prosecute those responsible for illegal land occupations and ensure transparency in land dealings.
Mohan highlighted the significant reduction in the lake’s size over time and demanded the government release past and present land records. He also raised concerns about the Polavaram project, suggesting a judicial inquiry to address allegations of corruption. Comparing it to Telangana’s Kaleshwaram project, Mohan claimed that while the latter benefited Telangana’s political leadership, Polavaram primarily enriched contractors, with minimal benefit to the public.
