Sat Feb 08 07:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Election Exit Polls Predict BJP Victory, but AAP Strategist Offers Counter-Argument

**New Delhi:** Exit polls for the Delhi Assembly elections suggest a potential BJP victory after 15 years of Congress irrelevance and the AAP’s dominance. While the BJP has never won a Delhi Assembly election in this century, these polls indicate a possible upset. However, Trinamool Congress leader Debangshu Bhattacharya, working with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has offered a counter-analysis.

Bhattacharya’s analysis focuses on the gendered voting pattern. He notes a slightly higher voter turnout among women (60.92%) compared to men (60.21%) in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. He argues that while this difference is minimal, if the AAP secures over 55% of the women’s vote and above 40% of the men’s vote, their overall vote share could reach approximately 47.5%, enough to form a government. He urges AAP leaders to focus on maintaining strong support among women voters to secure victory.

This strategy reflects a pattern seen elsewhere in India, where parties have successfully leveraged high women’s voter turnout. The Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, and various other parties in states like Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh, have employed similar tactics. All parties in Delhi heavily courted women voters, promising social programs similar to the “Lakshmi Bhandar” scheme. However, whether this formula will yield success in Delhi remains to be seen. The final results will determine whether the exit poll predictions or Bhattacharya’s analysis proves accurate.
