**Chennai, February 7, 2025** – A 29-year-old man underwent an eight-hour surgery at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) after a serious workplace accident. The man, injured Wednesday morning while operating a wood-cutting machine, suffered a severe laceration to his left wrist, measuring 8x8x3 cm. The injury exposed tendons and muscles, resulting in loss of movement and sensation in his hand.

Initially treated at Government Royapettah Hospital, he was transferred to RGGGH where X-rays revealed a distal radius fracture. A team of orthopedic and plastic surgeons worked together to repair the fracture, blood vessels, tendons, and nerves. The surgery successfully restored finger function, with capillary refill and pin prick bleeding confirmed in all fingers. The patient is currently under observation at the hospital.
