NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025 medical entrance exam will be held on May 4th. Applications opened on February 22nd and will close on March 7th, 2025, through the official website, neet.nta.nic.in.
Over 2.4 million candidates appeared for the exam in 2024. NEET UG 2025 will determine admissions to MBBS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS, BDS, and BVSc & AH courses across India. A total of 108,000 MBBS seats are available, with 56,000 in government institutions and 52,000 in private colleges.
**Eligibility and Exam Details:**
* Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31st, 2025 (no upper age limit).
* They must have passed class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.
* The exam duration is now 3 hours (reduced from 3 hours 20 minutes).
* The total marks remain 720.
* There will be 180 compulsory questions (down from 200, with no optional questions).
* The previous two-section format (Section A and B) for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology has been removed.
The NTA clarified that an AAPAAR ID is not mandatory for registration. Candidates can use other documents. Required documents include a recent photograph, signature, fingerprints, and relevant certificates (caste, citizenship, disability, domicile).
**Application Fee:**
* General: ₹5000
* EWS/OBC: ₹1600
* SC/ST/PWD/Transgender: ₹1000
* Foreign Centers: ₹9500
