**New Delhi, February 8, 2025** – Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid, currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail, has been transferred to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi after eight days on a hunger strike. His son, Abrar Rashid, reported a significant deterioration in his father’s health.

Rashid, chairman of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), began the hunger strike to protest his exclusion from the current Parliament session. Elected from the Baramulla constituency last year, he has been incarcerated since 2019 on alleged terror funding charges. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has opposed his bail application.

Abrar Rashid appealed for proper medical care for his father, emphasizing that his political beliefs should not lead to such treatment. He highlighted that his father represents a significant portion of Jammu and Kashmir’s population and deserves a voice in Parliament.

Inam Un Nabi, the AIP’s chief spokesperson, expressed serious concern over Rashid’s continued imprisonment and deteriorating health, urging immediate government intervention to ensure justice is served.
