Sat Feb 08 01:30:22 UTC 2025: ## FC Barcelona Donates Funds to Rebuild Sports Facilities Damaged by DANA Flooding

**Barcelona, Spain** – FC Barcelona has announced it will donate funds raised through its Foundation to rebuild municipal sports centers in Benetússer, Catarroja, and Paiporta, three towns severely impacted by the devastating DANA floods last October. The funds were raised through various initiatives, including an online auction of match-worn jerseys and donations from fans.

President Joan Laporta, along with a delegation from the club, visited the affected areas to assess the damage and express solidarity with the communities. The visit followed earlier contact with local mayors in the immediate aftermath of the floods, which claimed 227 lives.

The club’s efforts focused on restoring sports facilities to allow children and young people to resume normal activities. The auction of the men’s team jerseys raised approximately €90,000, while additional funds were collected via the Row 0 Support Fund and Bizum donations.

“The aim is to allocate the funds to restoring spaces so that children and young people can get back to playing outside as normal,” a statement from the club read. The FC Barcelona Foundation emphasized its commitment to long-term support, acknowledging the ongoing needs of the communities beyond the initial media attention. This initiative aligns with the Foundation’s mission to utilize sport to improve well-being and protect vulnerable children and young people.
