Sat Feb 08 07:58:31 UTC 2025: ## BJP Lands Crushing Blow to AAP in Delhi Elections; Kejriwal Loses Seat

**New Delhi, February 8, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised for a landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) three-decade reign. Early trends show the BJP leading in 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP is ahead in 22. The Congress is projected to win no seats.

The results mark a stunning reversal for AAP, whose chief minister Arvind Kejriwal lost his New Delhi seat to BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also conceded defeat in Jangpura.

Former AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, a founding member of the party, celebrated the BJP’s victory, stating, “I congratulate the BJP… I have no sympathy for a man who crushed the dreams of AAP party workers. Delhi is now free from him.” Vishwas accused Kejriwal of using the party for personal ambition.

Echoing similar sentiments, former AAP member and BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi expressed relief, describing the outcome as a “big day not just for the BJP, but also for Delhi.” She added that the AAP’s rise and fall represented a “full circle.”

The BJP’s win is attributed, in part, to criticism of the AAP government’s spending, particularly on a lavish chief minister’s bungalow. The BJP’s projected victory marks a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape.
