Sat Feb 08 11:29:40 UTC 2025: ## BJP Wins Patparganj Seat in Delhi Elections, Defeating AAP Incumbent

**New Delhi, [Date]:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has snatched the Patparganj Assembly seat from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the recently concluded Delhi elections. BJP candidate Ravinder Singh Negi defeated AAP’s Awadh Ojha by over 22,000 votes, according to the Election Commission of India after 10 out of 13 rounds of counting. Negi secured 58,821 votes, while Ojha received 36,578. Congress candidate Anil Chaudhary finished a distant third with 12,176 votes.

Ojha conceded defeat, stating he failed to connect with enough voters. He attributed the loss to insufficient time for campaigning but accepted personal responsibility for the outcome. The Patparganj seat had been a stronghold for AAP since 2013, previously held by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who contested from another constituency this election and lost.

Negi, a BJP councilor from Vinod Nagar ward (which falls under Patparganj), gained national attention in 2020 for giving Manish Sisodia a tough fight in the previous Assembly elections. He is originally from Uttarakhand. A video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi touching Negi’s feet after Negi had touched his feet during a campaign visit went viral on social media. This victory marks a significant gain for the BJP in a constituency previously dominated by AAP.
