**Mumbai, India** – Despite a high-profile premiere featuring three Bollywood Khans, the romantic comedy “Loveyapa” has flopped spectacularly at the box office. Opening day morning show earnings totaled a mere Rs 44 lakh (approximately $5,300 USD), significantly underperforming compared to the Rs 90 lakh earned by the Himesh Reshammiya-starrer “Badass Ravikumar,” which had a far less publicized release.
“Loveyapa,” featuring the debuting Junaid Khan (son of Aamir Khan) and Khushi Kapoor (daughter of Sridevi), suffered from low audience turnout, with an occupancy rate of only 5.6% in the morning shows. “Badass Ravikumar” achieved a 13% occupancy rate during the same period. While both films had a similar number of screenings in major cities like Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, “Badass Ravikumar” consistently outperformed “Loveyapa” in terms of audience engagement.
The underperformance of “Loveyapa” is attributed to negative reviews, with critics citing a lack of chemistry between the lead actors and a generally uninspired plot. The film’s massive marketing campaign, which included the three Khans, failed to translate into box office success.
In contrast, “Thandel,” starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, is projected to be the weekend’s top performer, having already crossed Rs 4 crore in morning show earnings.
The box office failure of “Loveyapa” highlights the unpredictable nature of the Bollywood industry, even with star power and significant marketing investment.
