Fri Feb 07 17:22:20 UTC 2025: ## India’s Energy Transition Takes Center Stage at Upcoming Global Summit

**New Delhi, February 7, 2025** – Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced today that he recently participated in a BBC HARDtalk interview, discussing India’s remarkable progress in the energy sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. This interview, two decades after his first appearance on the show, focused on India’s commitment to climate goals, its green energy transition, and the future of fossil fuels in a competitive global energy market.

Minister Puri’s comments come just days before India hosts the India Energy Week 2025 (IEW), a major international event taking place from February 11th to 14th in Delhi. The IEW, expected to be one of the largest energy events globally, will bring together energy ministers from over 20 countries, major energy producers from both developed and developing nations, and heads of prominent international organizations like the OPEC and IEF.

The event, spanning over 100,000 square meters, will address critical challenges and opportunities facing the global energy industry, setting the tone for the year ahead. Among the confirmed attendees are Tanzania’s Deputy Prime Minister Doto Mashaka Biteko and Djibouti’s Energy Minister Yonis Ali Guedi.

Minister Puri highlighted India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation (“Viksit Bharat”), emphasizing the strength of its democratic institutions and commitment to freedom of expression. He contrasted his 2002 HARDtalk appearance, focusing on cross-border terrorism, with his recent conversation, which centered on India’s significant strides in its energy sector.
