NEW DELHI – Awadh Ojha, a prominent educator known for preparing students for the Civil Services Examination, has suffered a significant defeat in his bid for a seat in the Delhi Assembly elections. Ojha, who joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in December 2024, contested the Pandav Nagar constituency. He lost to BJP’s Ravindra Singh Negi by a margin of 28,072 votes. Negi secured 74,060 votes, while Ojha received 45,988.

Ojha, who is known as “Ojha Sir” to his many online followers, has been tutoring aspiring civil servants for 22 years. His entry into politics generated considerable buzz on social media, with many users commenting on his campaign. Before the results, speculation and some lighthearted online trolling accompanied his candidacy.

Ojha, originally from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, holds a B.A., M.A., LL.B., M.Phil., and a Ph.D. His journey to becoming a renowned educator involved considerable personal sacrifice, including his family selling land to fund his education and that of his wife, who is a lawyer. While he cleared the UPSC preliminary exam, he failed to clear the mains examination, leading him to a career in teaching.
