**New Delhi, [Date]** – Awadh Ojha, a popular civil services tutor known for his UPSC coaching, has suffered a significant defeat in his bid for the Delhi Assembly elections. Ojha, who joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in December 2024, contested the Padampur constituency but lost to BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi by a margin of 28,072 votes.

Negi secured 74,060 votes compared to Ojha’s 45,988 votes after thirteen rounds of counting. Ojha’s loss comes as a surprise to many given his considerable social media following and popularity among UPSC aspirants.

Ojha, originally from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, had a remarkable personal journey. His father, a postmaster, sold five acres of land to fund his education, enabling him to pursue a Bachelor’s, Master’s, LLB, MPhil, and PhD. While he didn’t clear the UPSC Mains examination, he established himself as a successful tutor, coaching students for over 22 years.

Ojha’s entry into politics generated considerable buzz, particularly after a statement he made regarding his political ambitions that was widely circulated and discussed online before the election. Despite his popularity, his foray into electoral politics has ended in defeat.
