Sat Feb 08 10:40:11 UTC 2025: ## AAP’s Atishi Holds Kalkaji Seat Amidst Crushing BJP Victory in Delhi Elections

**New Delhi, [Date]:** Atishi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate, narrowly retained her Kalkaji Assembly seat in the Delhi elections, defeating BJP rival Ramesh Bidhuri by a slim margin of over 900 votes. This victory served as a rare bright spot for AAP, which suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of the BJP.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and several other prominent AAP ministers, including Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Somnath Bharti, and Satyendar Jain, all lost their respective seats to BJP candidates. Kejriwal’s loss in the prestigious New Delhi constituency to Parvesh Verma was a significant blow to the party.

Atishi’s win in Kalkaji came after a fiercely contested three-way race that included Congress candidate Alka Lamba. The campaign was marked by intense verbal sparring between Atishi and Bidhuri, with Bidhuri controversially raising questions about Atishi’s decision to change her surname. Atishi responded emotionally, accusing Bidhuri of personal attacks.

Despite her victory, Atishi acknowledged the devastating loss for AAP, stating it was a setback but vowing to continue fighting against what she termed the BJP’s “dictatorship and hooliganism.” Bidhuri, a three-time MLA and former South Delhi Lok Sabha MP, is known for his strong organizational skills and base in South Delhi’s rural areas.
