Fri Feb 07 17:28:45 UTC 2025: ## Adani Donates ₹100 Billion to Charity Instead of Lavish Wedding Celebration

**Ahmedabad, India –** In a move that has surprised many, Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, has donated ₹100 billion (approximately $12 billion USD) to various social causes in lieu of a lavish wedding celebration for his son, Jeet Adani. The wedding, which took place Friday afternoon at the Belvedere Club in Ahmedabad, was a simple, traditional Gujarati ceremony attended only by close family and friends. Notably absent were high-profile politicians, business leaders, or celebrities.

Jeet Adani married Diva, daughter of diamond trader Jaimin Shah. Adani had previously stated at the Maha Kumbh Mela in January that the wedding would be a simple affair, contradicting widespread speculation of an extravagant event.

The significant donation will primarily fund infrastructure projects focused on healthcare, education, and skill development. The initiative aims to provide affordable access to world-class hospitals, medical colleges, K-12 schools, and global skill academies, ensuring employability for all segments of society. This philanthropic effort aligns with Adani’s personal philosophy of “seva sadhana hai, seva prarthna hai aur seva parmatma hai” (service is practice, service is prayer, and service is the divine).

Further demonstrating this commitment to social responsibility, Adani launched “Mangal Seva” two days before the wedding. This program will provide ₹10 million annually to 500 newly married women with disabilities. Jeet Adani personally met with 21 such couples to launch the initiative.

Adani’s actions have been praised as an exemplary display of “Seva Over Self,” redefining the celebration of personal milestones by prioritizing community impact over ostentatious displays of wealth. His son, Jeet, serves as a Director at Adani Airports, overseeing the management of six international airports and the development of a seventh in Navi Mumbai.
