Sat Feb 08 10:04:07 UTC 2025: ## Indian Air Force Launches Lifeline Service to Ladakh

**Srinagar, February 8, 2025** – The Indian Air Force (IAF) launched the AN-32 Kargil courier service today, airlifting 24 stranded passengers between Kargil and Srinagar. This new service will act as a vital lifeline to the Union Territory of Ladakh during the winter months when the Srinagar-Leh national highway is closed due to heavy snowfall.

Twelve passengers traveled from Kargil to Srinagar, and another twelve traveled in the opposite direction on the inaugural day. The service will operate on the Kargil-Srinagar and Kargil-Jammu routes on select days to assist those stranded by the highway closure.

Kargil Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Balasaheb Suse and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Nitin Yadav oversaw preparations at Kargil airport, ensuring the smooth operation of the Kargil Courier service.
