Sat Feb 08 09:49:33 UTC 2025: **BJP Wins Milkipur By-election in Ayodhya After Eight-Year Gap**

Ayodhya, UP – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to win the Milkipur assembly by-election in Ayodhya after a decisive lead in the vote count. With 29 out of 30 rounds completed, BJP candidate Chandrabhannu holds a commanding lead of 60,936 votes over Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Ajit Prasad. The BJP is celebrating the apparent victory, with jubilant scenes at the party office.

The SP candidate, Ajit Prasad, son of sitting MP Awadhesh Prasad, lost even in his own polling booth. Both Ajit Prasad and his father have remained at home since the morning.

This win marks a significant turnaround for the BJP, which lost the seat to the SP eight years ago. The by-election was necessitated by Awadhesh Prasad’s election to the Lok Sabha in 2024. Notably, the BJP lost this same constituency to the SP by 7,000 votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Awadhesh Pandey, a former BJP spokesperson, attributed the BJP’s win to public resentment over perceived disrespect towards Ram by the SP. However, Awadhesh Prasad countered these claims, alleging booth capturing by BJP goons and vowing that the BJP would ultimately lose. The allegations of booth capturing are yet to be verified.
