Fri Feb 07 08:01:49 UTC 2025: ## Ajith Kumar’s ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ Opens Strong at Box Office

**Chennai, India** – Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan’s action-thriller *Vidaamuyarchi*, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, enjoyed a successful opening day at the Indian box office on February 6th. The film, an adaptation of the 1997 American film *Breakdown*, raked in an estimated ₹22 crore nett on its release day, according to Sacnilk.com.

While slightly below the ₹24.4 crore opening day collection of Ajith Kumar’s previous film, *Thunivu*, *Vidaamuyarchi* showed promising occupancy rates. Theaters reported 58.81% occupancy in the morning, 60.27% in the afternoon, and 54.79% in the evening. Occupancy was particularly high in Trichy and Pondicherry, reaching 92% and 91.67% respectively, exceeding even Chennai’s strong 88.33%. Industry analysts expect weekend viewership to boost the film’s overall performance.

Early reviews praise Ajith Kumar’s performance, highlighting his compelling portrayal and the nostalgic pairing with Arjun Sarja, reminiscent of their collaboration in *Mankatha*. Regina Cassandra’s performance as a complex character has also received positive feedback. The film, produced by Lyca Productions and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, is expected to continue its strong showing throughout the weekend.
