Fri Feb 07 04:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Urgent Ground Search Underway for Missing Bering Air Flight in Alaska
**Nome, AK (KTOO) –** A ground search is underway for a missing Bering Air flight that failed to arrive in Nome, Alaska, Thursday afternoon. Bering Air Flight 455, a Cessna Caravan carrying ten people, lost contact at approximately 3:20 p.m. while flying at 1,400 feet. The aircraft was en route from Unalakleet and was scheduled to land at 4:20 p.m.
Poor weather conditions, including icing, have hampered air support, forcing search efforts to focus on the ground. Teams from Nome and White Mountain are participating in the search.
Danielle Sem, a spokesperson for the tribal non-profit Kawerak, confirmed the missing flight and the ongoing ground search. Norton Sound Health Corporation has declared a “community medical emergency” and is preparing space for families at the hospital.
Bering Air has not yet released a statement. The investigation is ongoing.
